New York Times Feature:
At a shuttered water park in the desert landscape of Coachella Valley in Southern California, Lochtefeld has transformed a pool into a surf spot. For decades, inventors like Lochtefeld have struggled to mimic the ocean’s swells. In recent years, commercial projects and proof-of-concept pools have made good on the dream.
Now, there’s a global expansion race, driven by the demand of surfers to ride on specifically designed waves and by landlocked newbies who want to try the sport but on gentler, more controlled waves.
The Highlights Reel From PSSC Phase 1
It has been quite a ride for the crew at Palm Springs Surf Club, but phase 1 is over and the test tank is closed. Focus is now on doubling the size of the pool for phase 2 and making it public, but in the meantime, we’ve put together a highlight reel that showcases some of the incredible surfing that took place.
Sharing The Stoke At PSSC Phase 1
PSSC have been sharing the stoke with some friends. The resulting footage has been especially impressive considering this is just the phase one for their SurfPool and it still uses the original dimensions of a 30 year old wave pool rather than the bespoke design that will accompany the construction of Phase 2.
